37 weeks, 1 day...and counting...

How your baby's growing:

Your baby is now considered "full term," even though your due date is three weeks away. If you go into labor now, his lungs will likely be mature enough to fully adjust to life outside the womb. (Some babies need a bit more time, though. So if you're planning to have a repeat c-section, for example, your practitioner will schedule it for no earlier than 39 weeks unless there's a medical reason to intervene earlier.)
Your baby weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long. But don't be surprised if your baby's hair isn't the same color as yours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. And then, of course, some babies sport only peach fuzz.

From Destini:

Okay seriously, who the heck knows what Swiss chard is??? They should just say, "Your baby is getting bigger, get used to it!". Mama is getting tired. Today I came home for work and literally crawled into bed, slept for two hours. The baby has dropped some and the pressure on my lower back and pelvic bones is crazy! Some women drop early in their third trimester, I could not imagine waddling around like this for weeks and weeks. Thank God I made it to 37 weeks before feeling the baby drop. I can do this for a few more weeks....then I will seriously consider bed rest :).

I am and have (overall) enjoyed my time with my baby growing inside me. Things are almost done around here and I am starting to settle down (mostly because I have no choice, I can't move some days). God works in mysterious ways. It never stops amazing me how pregnancy prepares a women for all aspects of life, most importantly being a mother. Every stage, every week, every trimester of this pregnancy has brought new experiences for me, for Zach too. Physically, mentally, emotionally. It's like all of a sudden you really start to get things and realize why you are here and what the point of life is. I feel more complete and more in tune with things that matter. How stupid some things seem to me now. You start to love your mother and father so much more, and relate to them on a totally different level. Lately I have been in overdrive protect mode with my belly. It is like I feel like he is already born, and I am cradling him in my arms and protecting him from things that aren't even there. Like that car that is backing up to fast, that door that opened suddenly, the prowler outside that doesn't really exist. I frantically called Zach on my way to work almost in tears about how we needed carbon monoxide detectors in every room TONIGHT! He lovingly got it done before he went to work, Thank God because I would not have slept.

I sound like a crazy woman. Maybe a little...wonder what Zach would say :). Thank God for an amazing, patient, and loving husband. He balances me out now more than ever. I know he is just as ready for baby True's arrival as I am.

I know this is one of my last blogs before big boy's birth. I feel the changes in me, my body is getting ready. Stay tuned....

31 weeks-How the Babies Growing-My wishes for this year

How your baby's growing:

This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

Baby boy gets the hiccups daily...it is the coolest feeling. What I feel is his head thumping back in forth in rhythm each time he hiccups. His head is already very low in my belly...feels like he is in my bladder sometimes. I have been sleeping off and on for a few weeks now through the night. It is not too bad at this point..I am getting used to waking up to pee about 3-4 times a night. It is mostly because of all the pressure he puts on my bladder. I love being pregnant and am sad to think there is such a short time left...I will never carry him with me like this again. On the other hand I look forward to what this new year brings...I dream about him but I still can't fully see his face. I can't wait to lay eyes on him for the first time. We decided not to do a 3D sonogram so we can be totally surprised about all his facial features. All I know is he will have a tiny button nose and a lot of dark hair on his head.

I don't know how big he will be at birth but I am confident that my body and God are creating the perfect size baby for us.

We met with our doula Catherine yesterday to go over all things baby...we addressed fears and concerns about labor. We also talked about hopes and wishes about birth and our baby. It is so fun to be able to communicate with Zach so freely about these things and he is so involved. We are getting more and more excited about labor and can't wait to take the journey together.

We hope to have the nursery finished (or almost) finished by the end of the month. Primer went up today, maybe paint tomorrow. We start birthing class next Saturday. Looking forward to it. It will be interesting to meet other couples going through the same thing we are.

I pray 2011 brings many blessing to us all. May God protect us always, May our minds and bodies be healthy, May we be surrounded by love and loving people, May we embrace the life we have been given and make it one we are proud of.

New Years Eve 2010 - 30 weeks

The last day I carried my baby in the year 2010...so excited to see him in 2011!

We crawled into bed right at midnight...best NY Eve ever!

Christmas Eve...29 weeks

The last time we will spend Christmas without our baby boy in hand...I was very overcome with emotion...plus Amanda gave us a baby book called "If I could keep you little"...I lost it.
